Make Me with DJ Sprinkles, Tessela, Shanti Celeste, Bruce & Wigflex

  • Room 1 DJ Sprinkles. Terre Thaemlitz first came onto our radar with 2008’s seminal Midtown 120 Blues album - an outstanding collection of lush deep house tracks that evoked the glory days of the sound and its deep roots in New York’s gay scene of the 1980s. Since then a steady stream of top-drawer releases on labels like Perlon and Comatose, as well as headline DJ sets around the world have defined Sprinkles as one of the scene’s most unique artists. Her set for us at Studio Spaces in April last year was a highlight in a packed party calendar and we can’t wait to have her back. Shanti Celeste As a core member of Bristol’s Idle Hands collective and founder of the Brstl label and party series, Shanti has deep links with the city’s music scene. The past two years have seen her rise from a local face-to-watch to an in-demand international producer and DJ playing at the best clubs and festivals in Europe. Her monthly show on NTS also goes from strength to strength and her soul drenched sound that veers from classic house to breakbeat and Detroit techno is a perfect complement to DJ Sprinkles. Bruce We love Bruce. As well as being one of the nicest people we’ve met while doing this thing, he’s also becoming one of the UK’s most impressive new artists. With a brace of acclaimed 12s on Hessle Audio under his belt and an Idle Hands release showing us his housier side, we sense someone honing into his own unique sound and about to share some work that is genuinely remarkable. He’s also an enormous DJ Sprinkles fan, so we know he’ll be pulling out all of the stops for this set. Make Me residents Rupes and Nic Baird will be setting the scene from 11. Room 2 - Wigflex Tessela With a flawless run of releases on R&S, Blueprint, Bleep and his own Poly Kicks label (including the timeless rave anthem 'Hackney Parrot’), Tessela needs little introduction. Few producers over the past few years have done more to join the dots between techno, breakbeat hardcore, house and the vast array of sounds that emerged from the wreckage of dubstep at the start of the decade. As a DJ he is just as impressive, skilfully weaving together bass driven club tracks from across the full spectrum of electronic music. Check his recent RA podcast for a taste of what to expect. Lukas Wigflex The artist formerly known as Spamchop and the promoter behind Nottingham’s legendary Wigflex sessions. Lukas is one of the hardest working people we know, serving up quality beats to the people of Notts for over a decade and pretty much single-handedly shaping the musical taste of an entire generation in his home town. He’s a quality resident and throws ‘ roper' raves that have put the city firmly back on the map with all your favourite DJs. His selection is deep, check it out. Make Me resident Rubin will be hanging out in the booth from early doors.
