The Cirque Magique Festival in Ledegem started off with a bang last year as they welcomed 4.000 visitors on their first edition with an unseen atmosphere. It was so spectacular that the media talked about it for days on end and that it landed them the award for ‘Best Breakthrough Festival’ on the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards. Cirque Magique clearly succeeded in their quest to bring their public a truly magical experience. It was created by beautiful stages, real circus acts and a mind-blowing line-up of celebrated underground artists who brought house, techno and retro sounds to the fields. Cirque Magique will continue to excel with the same formula this year and will go even further. For this purpose, they have put together a well balanced line-up of 65 national and international artists in which they have clearly chosen once again for a unique and forward thinking program.
Just like last year, the party is getting started on Friday but this year, only for those who are camping on the site. The camping-site will be enlarged to twice the size of last year’s! On this stage, called ‘The Muse’ the first beats will blow through the speakers at 16h00. On the menu, a combination of local talent who can easily take their place between the bigger names in this country and are a guarantee for a very danceable vibe, next to two international artists. Names as Clerkie and Tremenzz from the Par’azaar Artist Agency, Endove from Søndag or Ilario Liburni vs Deltano and the French Mainro of the Sweet Trade-family. They will be joined by Sven Tasnadi who has records out on Sven Väths famous Cocoon-label, Pokerflat and lots of other labels. We are very sure that they will get everybody in the perfect mood. On the camping stage the campers will be brought in that mood a bit earlier on Saturday and Sunday as well and they will be treated to an after-party when the festival-day is over.
On Saturday, the festival goes into full power as off 12h00 with three full blown stages. Still no room for EDM and the likes on Cirque Magique, only for a broad spectrum of the best, underground electronic music: from house to techno, from past to present and beyond.
On the Cirque Magique Stage local Masian will open what will undoubtedly be another magical weekend. He will be followed by Flapjackers from Antwerp and Be Svendsen Live who is known from festivals as Boom, Burning Man, Fusion, ... It’s there that he perfected his own style of hypnotic circus, shaman, cowboy techno. The tone will be set from the start! Then it goes in straight line to more impressive, international talent as the Italian Francesca Lombardo of Crosstown Rebels, German Chris Tietjen of Cocoon fame who also joined us last year and as headliner no less than Technasia. Since year and day (1996 to be exact) a standard in the house and techno world through his own labels Sino and Technasia Records: labels that have put names as Joris Voorn and Steve Rachmad on the world-map and are home to three Technasia albums. He’s a guest as the coolest parties in Ibiza and the biggest festivals on the planet, so we are very happy to welcome him on the Cirque Magique Stage on August, 6th.
Cirque Magique does not only dweep with big foreigners but also strongly believes in their own talent. That’s why you’ll also find Dimitri Andreas from Kortrijk on the main stage. With numerous productions on leading labels, he’s more famous abroad than here. The same can be said of Igor Vicente with his releases on Mobilee and Hot Creations amongst others. He will be closing the Cirque Magique Stage on Saturday.
On the Feestgedruis Stage you will find a very fine selection of international house- and minimal artists next to local talents. We start off with Index, also better known as Murvin Jay & Curtis Zeki from Brussels. They will hand over the stage to the live-project ABSURD of Labyrinth Bookings. They recently make a well received debut in Club Vaag, as well as the Russian Maksim Dark who releases his records on Dubfire’s label Sci-Tec. Better known names from abroad include the Canadian Carlo Lio and the Italian Marco Faraone who is to be found on lots of the best labels in the world: from Be as one, Truesoul, Drumcode to Get Physical and more. Also Minus-talent Hobo and as cherry on the cake: Dubfire! He earned his stripes in the music world as member of 4 x Grammy Award-winning duo Deep Dish. These days you will find often find him at the sides of his good friends and colleagues Richie Hawtin and Sven Väth on their many worldwide events. And now as the main-act on Cirque Magique!
The third stage will be ‘The House of the Bull’ where you will find the best classics ever, brought to you by a whole array of Belgian veterans in the field. On Saturday, those are names as Yves Deruyter, DJ Ghost, Quincy, Zolex, Bountyhunter and many others. Each and every one of them dj’s who turned the Belgian clubs upside down every weekend for many, many years. They are now super hot again through events as Age of Love, The Sound of Belgium, Cherry Moon, Bonzai en meer.
And this year, also Sunday will be a full on festival-day with again three booming stages and a perfect mix of big foreign and own talent.
On Sunday, the Cirque Magique Stage will be opened by Limits from Antwerp. He just scored his first hit on Studio Brussels with ‘Fading Away’. Next up, one of our female stars with Chantal from Café d’Anvers and FM Brussels, followed by Whizz, one of the very first members of Sweet Trade. And then, three huge international stars in a row. First of all, a back-to-back set from Dominik Eulberg vs Gabriel Ananda. They used to be an inseparable duo who scored many hits as ‘The Space Between Us’ and subsequently toured the world live together. Now, they are both doing their own thing but for Cirque Magique they kindly agreed to bring the old magic to life once more. That this will be a unique performance, is a fact, especially as they will be manning de decks for 4 hours straight. They will be steaming up the dance-floor for the big headliner for Sunday and that’s the mighty Nic Fanciulli. He has more than100 releases out on his label Saved Records and has worked with artists as varied as Underworld, U.N.K.L.E, Loco Dice, Josh Wink, Hot Natured and Tracey Thorn. He has just announced his first solo residency in Pacha in Ibiza and he will bring that party atmosphere to Ledegem!
A lot of live action on the Feestgedruis Stage on Sunday. The stage will be warmed up by Andrea Giuliani & Luca Rossetti, the only foreign artists on the Par’azaar Artist Agency and then it’s immediately time for the big guns. AMyn from Moodfamily will bring us one of his famous, air tight live performances. Joran van Pol will probably set the pace a bit higher. This Dutch youngster released his first records on the labels of two of the biggest names in techno history: Richie Hawtin and Dubfire, need we say any more? After that, three smashing live-acts in a row, starting with Martin Maler from the region who is doing really well with his own Trianglesquare Records. Then it’s up to Shaded, another act of Dubfire’s label Sci-Tec who completely blew us away last year and who we are very pleased to welcome back. We’re also looking very forward to Matador’s live-set. Discovered by Richie Hawtin for Minus, he now stands on his own with his first album ‘Ructions’ released on his own Rukus label. Paul Ritch will take over from there. On his Quartz label tracks or remixes appeared from a lot of other names on our line-up as Carlo Lio, Nic Fanciulli and Dubfire. And so it becomes clear that not only the people are really connected with each other on Cirque Magique but also a lot of the artists. Ode Maen and Massaar get the honor to close off the stage after all their big heroes.
This year, also a Sunday a couple of international names on the ‘House of the Bull’ Stage. First up, Jaydee who made one of the biggest hits the electronic world ever produced with ‘Plastic Dreams’. And also Jam & Spoon will be present, responsible for various big hits in the ‘90’s. Add to those names as Mr Sam from John Digweed’s Bedrock, DJ George’s of La Bush, Marko de la Rocca, Quincy and more ‘usual suspects’ and you know that you will also only find the best of the best on this retro stage.
Cirque Magique will keep delivering a magical touch. Real magic comes from a feeling, a real feeling that radiates energy. Energy that comes from the heart and brings about an atmosphere that transcends daily reality. An atmosphere in which real wonders haven’t left the world ... the magical world!
Cirque Magique will once again be a festival ‘from the people, for the people’. Because, no matter how impressive the list of artists may be, Cirque Magique would not be Cirque Magique without its crowd, a crowd of like-minded people who all carry their own circus act in them and are invited to let that one loose on Cirque Magique.
Cirque Magique will obviously keep going for the highest standards on all aspects and there will be special attention for ecology, gourmet catering and even the kids, who are welcome on Sunday.
