WOMB の毎月第1土曜日は、怒涛の勢いで快進撃を続ける本格的マンスリーレジデント・ドラムンベースパーティー 06S!!
今月のスペシャルゲストは、UK アンダーグラウンド界の帝王 Ed Rush が登場!! パートナーである Optical と共に Virus Recordings を主宰している Ed Rush は、ドラムンベースシーンの最重要人物と形容するに相応しいアーティストであり、ドラムンベースシーンに常に変革をもたらし、進化させた革命児である。地元であるロンドンのレイブシーンに影響を受け、初期は HIP HOP とエレクトロサウンドを軸に活動し、ブレイクビーツを経て、のちに Techstep として世界に浸透するスタイルを生み出した事でも知られている。シーンの TOP レーベルである、Grooverider の Prototype や Goldie の Metalheadz からのリリースにより、Ed Rush はドラムンベースのニュースクールシーンにおいて才溢れるアーティスト / プロデューサーである事を世界に知らしめた。Ed Rush は奇才 Optical とタッグを組み、1998年に Virus Recordings を設立。Ed Rush & Optical としてよりハードでダークな路線へとシフトし、その音楽性はドラムンベースシーンに大きな影響を与え、10年以上経った今でも全世代のアーティストが追い求める Virus サウンドを作り上げた。Ed Rush & Optical の “Wormhole” はシーンに変革を与えた衝撃のデビューアルバムとして彼等の最高傑作と評される事も多く、現在世界 No.1 プロデューサーと呼ばれる Noisia にも大きな影響を与えた。
2015年には、Goldie、LTJ Bukem、Noisia 等が参加してきた Fabric のミックス・シリーズ ”FABRICLIVE 82” を Ed Rush & Optical が担当。Noisia 等のトラックや未発表曲も収録された凝縮のミックスとなっている。そして10月には ”FABRICLIVE 82” に収録されていた楽曲 ”The Host” を含む6年振りのアルバム ”No Cure” を満を持して、Virus よりリリース。破壊力抜群の本物のドラムンベースサウンドで、ドラムンベース本来の魅力を大いに知らしめる最高傑作である。また、Virus クルーはヨーロッパ各国、米国、カナダ、日本、オーストラリア、ニュージーランド、ロシアなど世界中でツアーを行っており、Ed Rush はパートナー Optical と共に屈指の名プロダクションチームとして今後もシーンを牽引していくだろう。
AKi にも多大な影響を与えた Ed Rush のプレイは、ハードでフロアを破壊する 06S にフィットしたサウンド間違いなし！迎え撃つレジデントAKiとの共演に心が高まる。真夏の夜を更に暑くする 06S で、更なる東京ドラムンベースの進化をみんなで果たそうでは無いか!!

This month's special guest is Ed Rush, the emperor of the UK underground!! Partnering up with Optical, Ed Rush presides over Virus Recordings and is an artist who can happily be described as the most important person in the drum & bass scene—a revolutionary who has constantly shaken up the scene and forced it to evolve. Teaming up with the genius musical group Optical, he founded Virus Recordings in 1998. As Ed Rush & Optical, their sound shifted to something harder and darker, a sound that had a huge impact on the drum & bass scene. Over 10 years later, they are still producing the Virus sound that artists of all generations pursue. Their massive influence even extended to Noisia, who is considered the world's current No. 1 producer. It was Ed Rush & Optical who oversaw FABRICLIVE 82 in 2015, the Fabric mix series that artists like Goldie, LTJ Bukem, and Noisia were part of. Then in October, Virus released their long-awaited album, the first in six years: No Cure, which included The Host, a track that had been recorded on FABRICLIVE 82. With an authentic drum & bass sound of outstanding destructive power, this is a supreme tour de force that communicates the core appeal of drum & bass with a vengeance.
There's no doubt that Ed Rush's playing, which also had an immense impact on our resident artist AKi, is a sound that fits the hard, floor-destroying mood of 06S !
