Club To Club 2016

  • After registering a great success last year, also thanks to an extraordinary performance by Thom Yorke, Club To Club, the premier Italian Festival in avant-garde and new pop, is back with its sixteenth edition. Club To Club takes place in Turin, from 2nd to 6th November 2016, during Contemporary Art Week, in unique and stunning venues across Italy’s most elegant and regal city. On the occasion of the sixteenth edition, Club To Club renews its collaboration with main partner Absolut, iconic, Swedish vodka brand whose eclectic spirit will animate the programme at festival HQ Absolut Symposium and much more. Furthermore, 2016 sees the confirmation of the partnership with Red Bull Music Academy, a real global music institution, that will presente a stage in Italian Exclusive whose first act to be unveiled is London talent Gaika. #IAMC2C is the 2016 campaign by studio Bellissimo / Luca Ballarini, who has taken care of the festival’s campaigns since its inception. For this year’s edition, Bellissimo collaborated with guest designer Ian Anderson of The Designers Republic, who designed iconic artworks for Warp Records artists including Aphex Twin and Autechre. Urban sounds from around the world Widely acknowledged as a crucial figure in the development of experimental instrumental hip-hop, Josh Davis, the Californian producer better known as DJ Shadow, released in 1996 his first full-length, ‘Endtroducing…..’, to immense critical acclaim all over the world. The album has frequently been lauded as one of the most important works of the last 50 years. Featuring guests ranging from Run The Jewels and Nils Frahm to UK jazz artist Matthew Halsall, his new album ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ finds him exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 25 years ago. Beyond showcasing songs from his new record, his special show for Club To Club will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his seminal masterpiece, ‘Endtroducing…..’. Brixton native and Warp Records affiliate Gaika converts the hyper-real urban chaos of London into glitchy, otherworldly collages. As on his recent mixtape ‘Security’, he’s one of the most interesting new British artists to work on combinations of grime, dancehall, and gothic aesthetics. Ghali is among the most important newcomers in the latest generation of Italian rap. Of Tunisian origin, the young rapper is achieving very high numbers of views with his video clips. The most recent of those is for ‘Wily Wily’, a track made once again on a beat by Charlie Charles, and accompanied by images shot in the archaeological site of Petra, Jordan.
