One of the faces behind the counter of Soho's Sounds Of The Universe record store, Capracara forged a taste for New York house in the late '90s at Trade, the country's first legal after hours club. From Sound Factory anthems to Night Slugs club tracks, vogue battle tracks to Kenny Dope percussive workouts, the continuing legacy of this golden era sits at the heart of his sound. But his own productions shows his wider tastes too, releases such as 'King of Witches' for DFA nodding toward loose-limbed disco, while 'Touch' on Cómeme harks back to classic '80s electro-funk. His own One Day Wonder label, meanwhile, has looked to both Detroit and Chicago, most lately with the bleeping JTC collaboration 'Bubble N Squeak'.

NIKNIKNIK
A resident at London's much celebrated House of Trax night before moving to Berlin, NikNikNik is as at home playing the camp hi-NRG of Divine as he is robotic Detroit electro or sensual disco-sampling house. Having worked at Phonica Records since his return to London, his recent guest spot on Ecstasy Garage Disco was a roving journey covering everything from UK new wave pioneers New Musik to the lush, tracky deepness of Ron Trent. Don't call it a comeback.

JOE ROBERTS
Joe Roberts hosts the monthly Ecstasy Garage Disco show on MEATtransMISSION radio. A former editor at DJ Mag, he's spent two decades sliding about the sublime/ridiculous continuum of the music industry, from DJing at a rundown (but occupied) motel in downtown Detroit to supporting Fatboy Slim in the Brazilian rainforest. A weekly resident at Dalston Superstore's Uncontrollable Urge Wednesday night party, he's also one half of production duo Local Group, whose debut EP came out this spring on New York label Get Up Recordings.
