D_002 with Möd3rn (Live), Mark Broom, Roman Poncet

  • Distortion is back with a unique line up and proud to have Möd3rn for their debute in London, the truly prolific artist Mark Broom and the rising star Roman Poncet. ★ Möd3rn While carefully handling their respective careers, postponing then their obvious collaboration, Möd3rn trio's members have capitalized its desire and now deliver its mere substance, in the rightest moment, where, simply, all the distant forces converge. The six daring, expert hands merge now into a unique entity, unanimously moving within the same effort towards techno music. Of the distinct identities merely remains the ethereal, synthetic essence devoted to the group, and the common musical passion that leads it. The formula is elaborated freely: each one's adjunctions -subtle keys, nervous chords, underground blows, rhythmical uproars- pour into a thick maelstrom, opaque, condensing Detroit's grieving sensibilities as well as last decade's bewildering cacophonies. The potion obtained is irresistible, an ecstatic hybrid, prodigiously actual, that renders all the genre's diversity and dynamism. Chance intertwined their paths and now the three companions celebrate both the friendship that resulted and the good fortune that has driven it, by improvising live together as one faceless, solid body agitated by the urge of dance and music, composing the material that shall be processed later on to form their eponym label's releases. ★ Mark Broom A truly prolific artist, Mark Broom has a myriad of production credits to his name having worked with world renowned labels such as Mo-Wax, Warp, R&S, Soma, Ifach (with Baby Ford), Bpitch Control, Platzhirsch, Rotary Cocktail, Material and more recently 2020 vision plus Saved, Cocoon, Blueprint and his own label Beard Man. It all started in the summer of 89 when he landed in Tenerife on vacation and stumbled across the delights of the emerging sounds of Chicago and Acid House. Returning to the UK, he immediately went in search of this new found music, a pair of turntables were bought and with it a musical career was born. He has also had the pleasure of reworking material from artists such as Dubfire, Edit Select, F.U.S.E, Dj 3000 and Alan Fitzpatrick. Mark has had a string of high class releases over the last 12 months, highlights being the Acclaimed SQ18 EP on Cocoon, M28 EP on Gynoid Audio, Vault 5 for Ostugut and a new project with James Ruskin as ” The Fear Ratio”. ★ Roman Poncet Originally from Avignon south of France, the French Techno ambassador Roman Poncet has left the comfortable warmth of his hometown a couple of years ago and moved to Paris to completely focus on music production. Since then he has dedicated his entire time to his passion and has plunged deep into the capital's thriving electronic music scene. Under Len Faki’s friendly wings and DJ Deep’s expert and encouraging critic, the young producer keeps on working and delivering new material, which has already convinced numerous of the godfathers of electronic music. Roman Poncet´s productions are easily oscillating between genres and releases on the labels Tresor, Deeply Rooted and Figure have gained him massive respect and support in the global scene. With the support of our resident dj Axel Picodot and the maestro Cromlab.
