Mumdance, Logos & Shapednoise present The Sprawl

  • Thirty Three Thirty Three in partnership with the ICA and VENT presents a two-part festival taking place in London and Cairo. Three of electronic music’s most exciting producers present their collaborative performance The Sprawl, a science-fiction imagining of musics of the future. Frequent collaborators Mumdance and Logos explore and deconstruct grime, hardcore and bass music, finding new sonic possibilities in taking it all apart. Collaborating here with Shapednoise, the Italian noise artist whose eerie and industrial efforts have been released on labels like Opal Tapes and Hospital Productions, they create an uncanny cybertopian world, fittingly borrowing its name – The Sprawl – from sci-fi author William Gibson’s work. With a similarly forward-looking outlook, Tunisian DJ and electronic performer Deena Abdelwahed, who injects her avant-garde inclinations into her productions to forge an alternative – and futuristic – take on Arab club music. They are joined by American producer Karen Gwyer, whose woozily melodic music blends psychedelia, dreampop and hard techno. masafat.thirtythreethirtythree.com
