Local record dealers Outer Time Inner Space return to Freda's for another instalment of their Sweet Echoes parties. This time inviting seminal Australian electronic act, Severed Heads for a rare, intimate live performance. Support from live acts phile and Lortica plus Jon & Hugh (Dark Jazz Records) in the gaps. SEVERED HEADS
In the 1980s Severed Heads bored a hole through the collective brain of the electronic music community worldwide. Rack samplers and tape machines were twisted and manipulated, drum machines and computer chips bent to the will of their instructors to create a new sound and visual experience, simultaneously arresting and infectious. Their music has continued to tunnel it's way in to the minds of willing electronic music fans right up to the present day. PHILE
Collaborative project of two equally important Sydney based solo artists, Hannah Lockwood and Gareth Psaltis. Together, Gareth and Hannah explore live techno through modular based improvisation and other hardware. Immersive in both it's beauty and brutality, Phile manage to create techno with broad, flowing textures carried and coerced by hypnotic rhythmic accents. A blissfully dizzying effect on body and head.
LORTICA
As Lortica, Sydney artist Alistair Hill has been quietly creating beautiful soundscapes from the tired remains of old cassette tapes and found sounds. Manipulated live with a 4-track recorder and effects pedals, Lortica shows an understanding and respect for the genre within which he falls but an irreverence for typical musical constructs. His music is a pleasure to hear and we strongly urge you to come down early and experience it live.
