Some may recall the first time LUIS FLORES came to Australia in February 2013, gracing Machine with his particular brand of techno. It was a thunderous night and Luis blew us away with his quality and enthusiastic embrace of our concept.
Luis came to prominence with a production style that was straight up but carrying swing and funk variants that would supplement a vicious drive with mystique and elegance. His production profile is prolific and his release rate hasn’t abated. This is all good and well, but this is not the only reason why we’ve sought a return to Australia from Luis Flores. The story behind that choice is the star quality of his DJ sets. Luis Flores is from the school of production where DJ’ing is central to the art. And so many many years behind the decks has seen Flores rise to the top of the DJ tree. If you saw him in 2014 we’re preaching to the converted. If you missed him then, hopefully this paragraph will be enough to convey what there is to be gained by catching him this time around.

LITTLE NOBODY
A special one off re-emergence from retirement of LITTLE NOBODY (Japan). His last performance at Machine was also off the hook. You may remember the night as he played immediately before SIGHA in October and rocked the house. This time round he will be creating an aural menagerie of funked up techno in the pristine brilliance of the upstairs Funktion One enabled environment we’ve been loving over the first two months back. We'll be giving away copies of the latest Little Nobody - 'This is Tokio' 2x12" Vinyl [MOJ03], via Nicolas Lutz's 'My Own Jupiter' imprint leading up to the night.. keep an eye out for a chance to win one.
DAVE MUMMERY (SILO Productions).
Dave is one of the true techno gentlemen of Melbourne. Co-founder of SILO Productions he is a tireless worker and one of those rare people willing to put others before himself. All the more rare in this industry. Case in point, for our comeback show in June, even though SILO were co-hosting Machine Upstairs, due to the time constraint Dave sacrificed his own set to allow more time for others. Despite all this the fact remains Dave Mummery (originally from England) is one of the most experienced and technically accomplished DJ’s in Melbourne. His sets are layered, textured, seamless and always created appropriately to the time slot and the room. We’re proud to have him representing himself and and his sound. Bring it on.
SUNDELIN
Sundelin has been making waves in Melbourne since arriving from Sweden. Filling a stylish techno-tech house profile, she seamlessly fits in amongst Melbourne’s various deeper club nights. Also a tireless contributor to the music and visual arts via her blog site Whono’s, her participation in bringing you NODE on TRNSMT and KONTRAST Collective. We’re happy to have her adding some of all of that upstairs.
