Revenge is a dish best served cold. However, we tend to disagree, and feel that you should all be getting hot and bothered on the dance floor of our first official Plastic Love installment in over a year.
That's right, after too many months kicking the kerb, we're back in action on Friday August 26th at a previously unused Downtown LA venue as we bring the house & disco vibes, courtesy of our guest, THE REVENGE.
Having been in the production saddle for some 15 years, it should come as no surprise that The Revenge takes massive musical influences from yesteryear, while still embracing the future. Renowned for his reworks and edits of classic disco & funk tracks such as The Joneses, Nel Oliver & Johnny Adams (to name a few) that made up the "Reekin'structions" album, he has also put his touch on 80s classics such as Neneh Cherry's 'Buffalo Stance', Gwen McRae 'Keep The Fire Burning' & Hot Chocolate "Cadillac' as well as many others.
Not one to rest on success, Graeme quickly formed '6th Borough Project' with fellow Scottish producer, Craig Smith. Following two hugely successful full-length albums, the duo played in every corner of the globe, all the while earning top level support from the likes of Todd Terje, DJ Hell, Tensnake, Steve Bug, Juan MacLean, Gilles Peterson, Moodymann, Ewen Pearson and more.
Fast forward to 2016 and The Revenge has now seen his much vaunted productions find homes on esteemed labels such as DFA, Pokerflat, Need Want and more. It was this demand that inspired his own label, 'Roar Groove'. Launched as a label for his own productions and collaborations, Roar Groove has already spawned two albums in "Love That Will Not Die" and "Intimate Connection". The former was the winner of 'Best Album' at the DJ Mag Awards last year, and we expect much of the same quality from his upcoming long player.
Expect a hours of house, disco and slo-mo edits as The Revenge takes you on a journey that can will feature every genre that has influenced today's house scene. Support comes from our two resident Plastic Lovers, Maheras & Bas.
