Globex, producers-in-chief of Acting Press, join us for their first UK showcase on 25th November, with an All Night Long b2b beatdown from Acting Press bossman PLO Man, Mood Hut mainstay Hashman Deejay, and fellow AP founder C3D-E.
Every so often, a label comes along that seizes the dance music zeitgeist. Over the past year, Acting Press is that label. Across five modern classic EPs, PLO Man, C3D-E and All Rest No People’s label has quickly become one of the most sought after in modern dance music, creating instant sellouts and frenzied critical responses at every turn. But Acting Press is no mere flash-in-the-pan hype machine. While so many pretenders have dealt in faux 90s revivalism over the past year, Acting Press is the real deal - 4/4 and ambient music made with craft, subtlety and panache, cunningly imbued with off-kilter old skool jungle textures to match the customary tape hiss and hardware fuzz. On 25th November, Globex, the Vancouver-Berlin production outfit of Acting Press, play their first UK showcase. Comprised of PLO Man, Hashman Deejay and C3D-E, Globex released the finest Acting Press record to date in March this year, and have appeared in various other combinations since the label began.
Enigmatic dancefloor adventurer PLO Man headlines on 25th November. Never dull, prosaic or predictable, the exceptional Canadian DJ is in the tradition of Dynamo Dreesen, Gilb’r and the Sex Tags brothers-in-arms - shunning easy press, perpetuating a rough 'n' ready DIY spirit, and playing marathon sets with an eclectic, deeper-than-deep record collection (that he showcases on his unmissable Berlin Community Radio show). Fellow Acting Press founder C3D-E is an even more mysterious presence in our Fair Isles - little is known about him, beside the prodigious production skills which have seen him feature on almost every AP release to date. We expect his selecting skills to be equally impressive. Mood Hut's Hashman Deejay also joins us for his Pickling debut. Hash is, quite simply, one of the finest house diggers and DJs in the business - the trippy UK stuff, the sleazy NYC grit, celestial Chicago sounds, lush Vancouver vibes and all points in between. He and his fellow Globex homies bring the heat All Night Long on 25th November.
