The first official event at Camden Assembly sees three of London’s fastest rising underground grime artists, AJ Tracey, Dave and Yxng Bane take the stage alongside renowned DJ and music curator, Seb Chew.
AJ Tracey is arguably one of the brightest MC talents to emerge from the UK’s buzzing grime underground over the last year. Kaleidoscopic wordplay and crystal-clear vocal delivery subtly reference the heritage of his scene whilst sounding like absolutely nobody else. Where AJ really comes into his own is his versatility – nailing everything from raucous club bangers and bumping sweetboy jams to the grittiest road anthems with peerless proficiency.
DAVE is another burgeoning MC talent raised on grime, but with a sound that also takes influences from things like road rap and southern rap. Records like “9K” sit relatively heavily outside those influences and clearly demonstrates his diversity as an artist. From collaborations with AJ Tracey to his track “Jkyl + Hyde”, the future is looking promising for this south-east London MC.
Seb Chew is a London based DJ. Over the last decade, he’s been responsible for founding club night YOYO which he ran and DJ’d at weekly for the next decade in London and New York, he’s worked at Universal in London as an A&R executive signing multi-million selling, Grammy award winning artists all whilst holding down a weekly show on the (then pirate) radio station Rinse FM. On top of all that and a six year stint as Musical Director for Parisian fashion house Chloe, he founded Fuman Productions, with the purpose of taking on larger creative, music led projects.
Upcoming British rapper hailing from the ends of Custom House (near Canning Town) East London an area also known as favela, he gained fame for his smooth and passionate flow mixed with harmonious & hearty singing that he credits Chris Brown & Future for serving as an inspiration since they have consistently remaining at the top despite the things they’ve been through. Gaining attention from the release of Lone Wolf, Yxng Bane has been quite consistent and dropped his first EP/mixtape Full Moon quite quickly which included soon to be hits like Doubted Me and Villain.
