  • Robert Glasper will do his come back at J.A.W with his Experiment after a couple of memorable shows at the late Festsaal Kreuzberg. The Houston native worked as music director for Mos Def and Bilal, hit the studio with Q-Tip, Kanye West, and Erykah Badu and did a world tour with Maxwell, all while releasing jazz LPs that drew steady acclaim. His worlds merged on the first full Experiment album, 2012's Black Radio, which scored a Top Jazz Albums No. 1 and won the year's Best R&B Album Grammy. In 2015, Glasper reset with Covered, recorded live in Capitol Studios with his original acoustic trio featuring bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Damion Reid, but his choice in source material was key: John Legend, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead, and Kendrick Lamar to name a few. He also composed for Don Cheadle’s Miles Ahead film, plus reinterpreted Davis' catalog on Everything Is Beautiful, which came out earlier in 2016. Glasper is currently collaborating on forthcoming albums from Herbie Hancock or Common. Christian Scott, also known as Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is a two-time Edison Award winning and Grammy Award nominated trumpeter, composer, producer, instrument designer and music executive. Scott’s Grammy nominated international recording debut, Rewind That, was called “arguably the most remarkable premiere the genre has seen in the last decade” by Billboard Magazine. Since 2006, Scott has worked with the likes of McCoy Tyner, Prince, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, Mos Def (Yasin Bey), Thom Yorke or Solange Knowles, among other notable talents. In June 2015, Scott established a partnership between his newly formed Stretch Music label and the lauded Ropeadope Music family. The Fall of 2015 marks the debut release on Stretch Music/Ropeadope, titled Stretch Music. Scott is also the progenitor of “Stretch Music,” a genre blind musical form that stretches the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions of improvisational music to encompass as many other musical forms, languages and cultures as possible.
