In the form of an LA exclusive, a rare visitor from NYC and one of our cities finest selectors all come together for one night of dancefloor hedonism.
The enigmatic pairing of Gerd Janson and Lauer, have been making music as Tuff City Kids since 2012. Notching up releases and remixes on some of the best, they’ve put out club bangers and heads down anthems on labels such as Live at Robert Johnson, Krystal Klear’s Cold Tonic imprint, Internasjonal, Delsin, Innvervisions and Permanent Vacation, which they’re just about to release their highly anticipated new ten track album Adoldesscent on in October. Guests have included Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Norwegian superstar Annie. This is the LA leg of the album tour and the very first time they’ve performed in the city as a duo. Those who attended Prototype’s most recent foray after FYF (in conjunction with good friends Far Away and Making Shapes), will attest that you’re in for a treat with one of the very best DJs around right now, Gerd Janson, whilst his partner in crime, Philip Lauer graces the city for the very first time. Let’s ensure he’s given a hot and sweaty, high energy welcome.
Joining these two is one of the East Coast’s most exciting and prolific producers to emerge in recent times, DJ Qu. Known for his unique take on house and techno, his sound is anything but predictable, as demonstrated by this year’s full length “Conjure” album and his 100+ tracks that lie before it. Tough, pounding, hypnotic and sometimes melodic but always with his trademark solid tech vibe. It’s a sound that’s made DJs and producers across the spectrum all stand up and take notice. The former world touring dancer’s energy in the studio, translates effortlessly into his DJ sets, which have seen him pop up at some of the world’s most revered dancing hot spots, including Ibiza’s DC-10, Concrete in Paris, Panorama Bar, Croatia’s Dimensions Festival, Tresor, London’s XOYO, Watergate and fabric. Tonight he joins us for his second ever LA show and his first in over a year.
Opening up the night and setting the tone to carry forthwith, the one of the cities favorites, Tahl K, kicks things off in true Fine Time style.
