Fear Of A Crap Planet

  • Celebrating their 20th birthday with a new label set to drop its first release next year, the redoubtable Fear Of A Crap Planet returns with a series of low key events providing the fearful faithful with some anxiolytic audio in the interim. Hear the distressed, uneasy but playful electronica of resident taste-maker, erstwhile Autechre tour DJ and Mark Fell collaborator Jean Shirt joined on the decks by two young-guns who have pretty much already outgrown the tiny environs of The Lion N16 on Stoke Newington Church Street. First up is Rian Treanor, getting to display the myriad influences behind the neon-lit, hyper-modern hybridisations of his widely praised (10/10 and ‘Album of the Week’ in Mixmag) ‘Pattern Damage’ EP on The Death Of Rave imprint. He will be joined by another hotly-tipped youngster and FOACP signing, Brixton’s Jack Warne a.k.a Gaunt, whose fitful, propulsive, spacious but detailed techno provided Mistry with arguably its strongest release to date in the form of his ‘Crowd Noise’ EP earlier this year. Expect Fear Of A Crap Planet’s usual compelling electronic abstractions, casual disregard for genre conventions, and perhaps the last time you will be able to catch this heavyweight line-up of youthful talent in such intimate surroundings. Door tax is £5/6 with a quid going to the deaf-blind children’s charity Sense.
