Whether any of us can believe it or not, IN TRAINING is turning 2 years old this October! From our humble beginnings inside the walls of City Servant (RIP), in front of the cameras of Cool Cleveland, and running around half naked inside the punk bar, we are honored, humbled, and thrilled to be able to witness and present the possibilites of electronic music and queer subculture in Cleveland. None of what we do would be possible without the trust, respect, and energy of everyone who attends IN TRAINING each month, and for that, the three of us will be forever grateful! Hot on the heels of our 1 year anniversary party that featured national leather daddy legends LIMP WRIST and PLACK BLAGUE, this time around we are proud to present one of the most singular voices in modern freak electronics BILL CONVERSE, a DJ/Producer on the equally queer & weird electronic music label Dark Entries Records. BILL CONVERSE (DARK ENTRIES RECORDS/TIMELIFE METHRAVE) [DJ] - Hailing from East Lansing, Michigan and exposed to the sounds of techno, industrial, and Chicago house from a young age through the radio, Bill Converse got his start DJing in his early teens before moving down to Austin, Texas in 1998 and refining his sonic methods quietly in the south. Building a quiet but steady electronic scene in Austin from the ground up, Bill eventually gained national prominence in the last two years with podcasts for LIES Records News & Resident Advisor, two releases of original productions for Dark Entries Records (one of which was originally released on cassette via Obsolete Future), and his co-run "vanilla and non-vanilla" radio show Timelife Methrave broadcast through the legendary Intergalactic FM! Bill's selections as a DJ encapsulate his ever growing range of weirdo electronic music: techno, electro, acid house, and the warped sounds of his native Michigan all find their way into his stunning mixes without a single track feeling out of place. All of us at IN TRAINING feel that almost no one represents melding the worlds of the queer and the weird electronic (as well as building your own underground in a place that so lacks its presence and history) than Bill Converse, and we are delighted to see what kind of mayhem his set conjurs during the headlining slot at our 2 year anniversary party.

GLACIAL23 (SEQUEL SOUND/SAVAGE QUALITY RECORDINGS) [LIVE] - Cleveland's own master of acid GLACIAL23 will be making his second live appearance at IN TRAINING this year with his trademark array of synths and surprise New Order covers. GLACIAL23 is another member of the extended IN TRAINING family who has been supporting us to the fullest since our inception, doing everything from spreading the good word about us, to celebrating the release of his debut LP at the third IN TRAINING ever, and most importantly being the one person who will ALWAYS be dancing to your opening set before 10PM on any IN TRAINING night. GLACIAL23's live sets are truly immersive live acid experiences up there with the greats both internationally and in our rustbelt corner of the midwest, bright and propulsive beats mixed with the darkest undercurrents a 303 and TR-8 will summon. When GLACIAL23 is finally profiled in a Resident Advisor Machine Love gear feature, we will not only revel in his soldering skills, but his bright smile and pure love for the music itself.

KIERNAN LAVEAUX (IN TRAINING) [DJ] Cleveland's #1 under-21 trans femme troublemaker KIERNAN LAVEAUX will be opening the night with her usual curation of cybernetic impulses. Emerging from the fruity depths of Cleveland Heights some time in the early 2010s, KIERNAN LAVEAUX wants her selections to make everyone in the room stand as tall as she does. Expect fog, sports bras, and updos.

The 2 Year Anniversary party will be preceded by an event at Guide To Kulchur: Text, Art, and News Friday October 14th from 7pm-10pm featuring an open discussion curated by ADAB (Heaven Is In You) RED TAILED HAWK LUNA (Smartbar Chicago / 4nplcy) and A-LIVE (Muamin Collective / Young Kings: records::apparel::art::steez) about the genesis of House and Techno music as sonic resistance for black and brown people.

IN TRAINING events are intended to be a space for autonomous living for oppressed and marginalized people who have run afoul of society's expectations with regards to gender, sexuality, race, class and ability. It's a party that also emphasizes practicing good consent on the dancefloor and helping people who feel unsafe in public spaces - especially club environments - feel safe and welcome. If anyone interferes with your enjoyment of this event by harassing, groping or otherwise behaving in an oppressive manner, please let the promoters and venue staff know and we will have them removed. We would also like to remind everyone that this is an 18+ event, and we will be verifying ages at the door. This event will be $12 at the door, or $10 in advance. Advance tickets can be purchased at the bar during any operational Now That's Class hours from now until October 14th, your name will be added to a list that our door person will have to verify your advance ticket purchase the night of the party!
