Edit Records Winter Label Party

  • Following on from the successful Summer Label Party in Manchester this year, Edit Records thought it would only be right to host another party before the year is out. This time it’s our Winter Shindig and we wanted to make it extra special, set in the perfect intimate surroundings of a basement in one of northern quarter’s most historical buildings the excellent Stage & Radio. As this is the Winter party and the final one of the year we wanted to bring down from Edinburgh a friend of the label 6th Borough Projects ‘CRAIG SMITH’ who will be supported by Edit head honcho Andy Edit, Local boys Joint Custody & the excellent BON (EDIT RECORDS) & Blonde Flash from the popular Edinburgh party Ladies On Rotation (LOR). We are really looking forward to hosting this one and having Craig play for us in such a small intermit space, this is not one to be missed. Craig Smith: Having had releases on EMI, Virgin, Hush Hush, In Demand, Maxi, Five20East and Soul Heaven under his own name and various guises, such as Harden Soul Project, The Wayfarers, The Soul Renegades & The Shaw Height Assembly & more recently 6th Borough Project. He has remixed tracks for the likes of Cevin Fisher, Roland Clark, Afro Medusa, Beverly Knight, Soul Providers, Moloko, and the Hong Kong Micros amongst others. Currently working on new music with production partner Graeme Clark (The Revenge) on their popular 6th Borough Project and Craig Smith & The Revenge guises, recent releases/remixes on Five20east, Soul Heaven and Jimpsters new label Delusions Of Granduer (as Craig Smith & The Revenge) and Jisco, Less Productions, Instruments of Rapture, Soul Heaven (as 6th Borough Project) have been gaining mad props/ radio/club play from such heavy hitters as Kenny Dope, Giles Peterson, Simbad, Karizma, Jimpster, Terry Hunter, Danny Krivit, Chris Duckenfield, Joe Clausell, Quinten Harris, Phil Asher, Todd Terje, Mad Matts and a host of others! Andy Senior AKA Andy Edit: In the DJ game since 1987 having started out playing late 80's House swiftly moving into Acid House ad playing at many of the original Blackburn Warehouse parties which were the catalyst for the northwest dance music scene, before moving to Ibiza for a short while. Andy has recently started producing his own material after years of working on and off alongside other artists. Hailing from Blackpool the North of England, Andy was brought up listening to Funk, Latin, Soul, Jazz Funk, Northern Soul and Disco – These elements are very distinctive in his productions and his DJ sets. His take on house music is rooted in this tradition having a childhood where inspirational artists and music were the norm leading the way for involvement alongside the early pioneers of Underground House in the late 80s. Andy has worked with a wide range of DJs including Sasha, Dave Seaman, Laurent Garnier, Rob Tissera, John Kelly, Rocky & Diesel, Groove Assassin, John Morales and a host of others playing at some of the UK & Ibizas most famous clubs. Joint Custody: (Fraser Todd & Jamie Christer) formed in the year of 2009. Both friends that go way back have a huge passion for a wide variety of music. In particular Disco, House & Techno. Some people may recall their regular slots at Bar 137 in Blackpool aswell as in and around the North West. Joint Custody decided to have a break from the JC brand in 2012 due to other life commitments, now they have decided to join forces once more and have all kinds of new ideas to share with the world. Currently Residents twice a month at Manchesters Northern Quarter ‘Cord Bar’ Steven Scott AKA Bon is a DJ and producer, dedicated to exploring all realms of underground music from Disco to Hip Hop to House. Bon started his Dj career at different clubs around the Scottish Borders featured at nights in Dundee and now living and working in Edinburgh. Having spent years Djing, the time came to delve into producing, which is a labour of love for Bon with a steady but impressive library of tunes building up with releases out on LW Recordings, Steal My Oil, Edit Records and more recently on Midnight Riot. He has had success with his releases which often chart on Traxsource with his productions covering genres of Soulful House to Nu-Disco and is currently working on new material both as a solo artist and on various collaborations. He even finds the time to get involved on the Network radio show which is broadcasted on Box Frequency F.m once a month inviting well know guests to feature along side him on the 3 hour show. He is regularly heard at different nights such as Sounds Of Soul in Edinburgh, Hoochie Coochie in Newcastle and Edit in Manchester and Blackpool which has allowed him to share the decks with guys such as Hot Toddy, Craig Smith, Moodymanc and Groove Assassin. Blonde Flash is one 3rd of Ladies on Rotation along side Simmone Black, Natasha Kitty Kat Probert. Founded 5 years ago, a group of like minded female DJ's who are independently known but wished to collaborate to form an all female DJ night/outfit promoted by Papajgun. Music followings include all walks of Soul, Funk, Disco, Soulful & some Deep House. Blonde Flash particularly in Re-Edits Slo-Mo Disco & Nu-Disco. DJ'd for around 18 years in various bars and clubs on the Edinburgh scene, including guests spots at Ultragroove, Heavy Gossip, LOR and Sounds of Soul, resided at Mocha Rocka, and ran her own night Spaceface some years ago now with Andy Yam who? and Robot 84 as her residents. This summer was the 1st attendance as a DJ at Suncebeat festival in Croatia alongside her fellow ladies where we took the roof of the soul tent. An amazing experience. Currently still Djing bars and involved in the event planning and promotion of both Ladies and Rotation and Sounds of soul nights both based in Edinburgh. Always in attendance at our Rooftop special events with LOR and now new gigs confirmed in London this year with LOR.
