While Motion Graphics serves as the project's first official release, Williams has been an active producer for many years, having collaborated with Baltimore-based sound artist Matt Papich on Co La’s Moody Coup LP, and currently serving as a core member of the ongoing Lifted ensemble (headed by Future Times' Maxmillion Dunbar), whose first album arrived last year via PAN. Much of Williams' individual creative efforts were for some time aimed at writing the original score for 12 O'Clock Boys, a feature-length documentary which focused on the lives of illegal dirt bike riders in the impoverished neighborhood of West Baltimore. In addition to the suite of music composed for the film, in recent years Williams' original productions could also be heard in his mixes for outlets such as DIS Magazine and NTS Radio. Created during a two-year period, Motion Graphics' first album is made up of ten widescreen digital compositions (half of which feature Williams' own vocals) that cover a good deal of sonic ground as they attempt to connect the dots between Williams' disparate influences, which span everything from '80s-era Japanese techno-pop music and the jazz sounds of ECM Records, to the sound effects of modern-day menu systems and the ambient electronic noises that decorate our everyday lives. "Interface sounds, notifications from devices, or even the sound of household appliances—this is the ambient music that we live with," Williams explains, "and I see this conversation happening between these sounds and what are considered more 'musical' sounds. These everyday, quotidian sounds are really the sounds of our time, and to me, in many ways they are much more indicative of popular music." Pitchfork Review by Philip Sherburne: http://bit.ly/2e9itpg GEORGIA’s next release, All Kind Music, is due out in October on Palto Flats. All Kind Music further explores Tripp and Close’s roles as producers and collaborators, bringing in a diverse community of musicians and vocalists including Unto create a new kind of ‘world dance music.’ Georgia's adventurousness hearkens back to the days of early 80s UK experimentalism, where ideas and textures from all kinds of music were thrown together to create a new music filled with vibrancy and expression.
