  • In anticipation of his spring 2017 Migration tour, Bonobo revealed the first single from his sixth studio album, Migration, in November of last year. The full work was released on January 13, 2017 via Ninja Tune, and featured guest contributions from the likes of Nick Murphy (Chet Faker), Rhye, Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters and more. “Kelara,” the leading single, was released alongside an associated music video, coming as a clear indicator of the emotional tone and stylistic direction of the upcoming album. The anthemic, droning repetitions and natural, raw sound design make for a truly impactful listening experience. When combined with the simplistic yet highly telling music video, the hype surrounding complete album’s release increased tenfold. As Bonobo put it himself, the central theme of the album at large is ‘migration’ itself. “The study of people and spaces. It’s interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and affect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of places evolve. . . My own personal idea of identity has played into this record and the theme of migration. Is home where you are or where you are from, when you move around?”
