Red Bull Music Academy joins forces with Mexico City’s NAAFI crew, hosting 12 hours of revolutionary global club mayhem during this year’s Art Basel in Miami Beach.
The event will feature DJ sets from NAAFI members Mexican Jihad, Fausto Bahía, Imaabs, Paul Marmota, Zutzut and Academy alum LAO, and a cast of special guests, such as NYC’s dark princess Venus X, Mixpak’s first lady Jubilee and Fake Accent founder Tygapaw. Alongside the 12 hours of music, Mexico City-based art duo SANGREE (René Godínez Pozas and Carlos Lara) will showcase their work, making their Miami debut.
The multi-armed NAAFI collective is doing big things to connect the roots of Mexican club music and pre-Hispanic sounds with the underground dance styles currently bubbling around the globe. Whether releasing music on their label, throwing wild parties and festivals or producing original tracks, NAAFI deploys a mix of traditional and postmodern techniques to break down barriers and change cliches about Latin music.
