Joining The Black Madonna in week 3 of her XOYO residency is Chicago’s own Derrick Carter and Amsterdam’s Young Marco.
Seminal in Chicago’s house music scene and a legend of both the city and the genre Derrick Carter has been spinning wax since the tender age of 9. Honing his DJing skills throughout his teens, Carter found himself drawn to Chicago’s burgeoning underground music and party scene and playing at some of the city’s coolest clubs including Shelter, Foxy’s, and Smart Bar. Tonight Derrick will be doing an exclusive disco set for XOYO, so expect fluid transitions and unrivalled mixing in all things funky.
Dutch dude Marco Sterk, aka Young Marco, joins us tonight at XOYO for a journey through the obscure and the alternative in dance music. Amsterdam born and bred, this DJ and producer is known for his tastes in foreign dance music, yet also for his proficiency and ability in bringing these genres together in his sets, which in the past have included proto-house, jaktrax and Libyan disco anthems. Young Marco’s varied back catalogue has had strong support from Dixon and James Murphy, and his releases are even becoming collectible. Attend with an open mind and no expectations, and you might just attend one of the best and most memorable sets you ever see.
