With music from Elvi Soulsystems and Judzhen featuring guest performance from Vidis of Club Opium and Silence Family and visuals by video artist DEE, the second edition of The Purgatory at one of the most beautiful venues in Riga that also offers a quality sound system, is set to achieve the next level. Inspired by both – the complexity and virtuosity of classical art and the simplicity and rough edges of the popular electronic dance music genre – the event shall be an audiovisual experience to get lost to and maybe find one's own purification within the monochromatic space and loud bass.
Vidis who also runs Club Opium in Vilnius and the Silence Family project ironically has never played at ONE ONE yet and hasn't been playing in Riga for some time now thus it is with great joy that his guest performance is welcomed within the framework of House Purgatorio – an event series that aims at shining a different light on house and dance music in general. Much like Vidis does in Vilnius.
Judzhen is one of the busiest disc jockeys Riga experiences at the moment, yet House Purgatorio specifically is the playground for such aspiring talent to shine and experiment. Everytime he delivers something fresh to the table and does that with a great burst of energy.
Dee creates shapes for her live video artistry inspired by organic matter yet she builds it from scratch, creating an otherworldly feel – unique to her performance and intended to take one outside this world and into the House Purgatorio where shapes and architecture of the classical meet the digital, the controlled meets the accidental. All black and white, all live, new every time.
In the hands of Elvi Soulsystems – the conceptual initiator of House Purgatorio – house music and music in general transforms into different shapes, these can be sound you should be familiar with but they seem deconstructed, it can be his own inventions alongside other things. It is always a journey that includes pits and dragons as well as princes and princesses and elvenkind if you will. Best experienced in sync with the visuals, not replicable in a recorded format.
The music and images come alive at 11:11 PM and on into the night. Tickets on door will get more expensive, the club suggests obtaining the limited and cheaper pre-sale tickets.
