Many first heard the ambient sounds of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel via their 1998 LP Moon Safari, which hypnotised the world with space-rock classics like ‘Sexy Boy’ and ‘La femme d’argent’ before moving onto collaborations with Sofia Coppola and a collective catalogue of unassailable Gallic electronic cool.
Their most recent retrospective, Twentyears underpins the timelessness of Air as masters of French pop, taking listeners on an evocative journey through the weightless sounds of their studio albums including Talkie Walkie (2004) and Le voyage dans la lune (2012) as well as their melancholy film score for Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides in 2000.
