Breaking through alongside Aphex Twin and directly inspired by Detroit’s originators, Richie Hawtin has uniquely carved a career all his own as an uncompromising producer, DJ and visionary of immense credibility and enormous popularity. Strategically placed cameras and dramatic projections will transform the tip of Bennelong Point into Sydney’s most heaving club for one night only.
Under past aliases as F.U.S.E. and Plastikman, Hawtin has always held his reputation as a genuine original. He has proved capable of traversing genres and disciplines, from curating ecstatic nightlife experiences in Ibiza to collaborating with Turner prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor, in which the pair transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a gigantic red-themed installation in 2011.
Now devoted to bringing his new project to life, CLOSE will explode onto the Northern Broadwalk this Vivid LIVE, crystalising Hawtin as one of dance music’s most innovative figures, bringing conceptual art out of the gallery and into the DJ booth, backdropped by Sydney’s breathtaking Harbour.
