With it being 10 years of Warm this year we had to celebrate with some very special one-off events to perfectly compliment our new Plastic People monthly residency. Having held back for the first two bank holidays we thought it was now time to kick start the celebrations at the Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch on Sunday May 24th with a whole host of Warm agency artists.
Firstly we welcome Mock & Toof who's own unique productions have seen them find their home at one of the world's leading labels, DFA. In turn this has lead to remixes for the likes of Holy Ghost!, Hot Chip and Ladyhawke to name just a few! This year will also see the release of their much anticipated debut LP so keep those ears peeled as they may well test out some new audio gems on the unsuspecting crowd!
Next up straight out of NYC we welcome DFA's very own Jacques Renault, one half of Runaway and a solo artist in his own right Jacques is currently touring non-stop including dates across Europe and the UK as well as an Australian tour! With Runaway remixes in the pipeline for Roland Appel, Mugwump and LCD Soundystem as well as his own remixes for Brooklyn's very own Chairlift and Australian outfit 'The Canyons' on DFA coming out soon, 2009 looks set to be a great year for Mr Renault!
We also welcome Running Back head honcho and Robert Johnson resident, Gerd Janson. His Running Back label has gone from strength to strength in the last few months with releases from the likes of Move D, Radioslave and Robert Dietz and with two killer EP's in the pipeline by Tensnake and Lil Tony it seems the only way is up for Running Back in 2009! Off the back of the labels' huge success its only catapulted Gerd even further afield DJing recently at spots such as Fabric and Subclub as well as week in week out across Europe!
Reverso 68 are two of the most respected DJ's and producers in Phil Mison and Pete Herbert. Both have been influential in the London music scene for many years. Pete with his legendary record shop Atlas which used to be run out of Soho and attract the who's who of worldwide music aficionado and Phil Mison for championing the balearic sound long before anyone else at venues such as the legendary Milk Bar in London. Together they are the perfect fit bringing together their own trademark sound of disco, balearica and house which in turn has lead to them Djing all over the world and remixing the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Bent and Juan Maclean to name just a few!
Matt Waites AKA Nightmoves is one of the most recent additions to the agency roster but at such a young age his CV is quite simply crazy! Having been resident at Liars Club in Nottingham and releasing tracks for Kitsune and remixing the likes of the Klaxons, Friendly Fires, Roisin Murphy, Freeform Five, Metronomy and Late of the Pier to name just a few, Matt made quite a name for himself and with new projects currently in the pipeline under various new guises expect some surprises in 2009, most recently with his release on Dissident with Nadia Ksabia!
Diesel is one third of X-Press 2 and is one of the most respected DJ's and producers of the last twenty years alongside Ashley Beedle and Rocky as X-Press 2. With new releases out in 2009 for Skint there is still no stopping the guys and with Diesel also working on new projects such as his Dflex project and his own Moton edits label he runs with Dave Jarvis it looks like there's still another twenty years of music to go yet!
Last but not least are the Warm residents Ali Tillett and Rob Summerhayes. 10 years on and having played at venues across the UK and Europe such as Fabric, The End, The Pod and many more as well as DJing alongside artists such as Ame, Dixon, Henrik Schwarz, Jazzanova, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Maurice Fulton, Osunlade, King Britt, Benji B, Deetron, Tim Sweeney and many many more it seems there's no stopping them to another 10 years!
It wouldn't be a Warm Bank Holiday Special without some surprise secret guests so keep those eyes peeled for some friends who will pop in to join us for this special bank holiday event!
