The Duo Behind Blkmarket Membership Set Their Sights on Growing Two Distinct New Nightlife Brands New York, NY June 27, 2017 After eleven years of successfully throwing underground events as a dedicated team, Taimur & Fahad of the NYC mainstay, BLKMARKET MEMBERSHIP, are pleased to officially announce that they’ll each be heading up their own unique projects to add to the depth and diversity of the NYC underground scene. ADVENTURES IN THE DEEP and THE SELECTORS, two connected but separate nightlife brands, aren’t “new,” since both parties have existed as side projects between the two since 2012 and 2017, respectively. Pleased with the reception and growth potential of both brands, Taimur & Fahad felt it was the right time to shift their focus to continue to build on these events independently, apart from their shared commitments to BLKMARKET. ADVENTURES IN THE DEEP, driven exclusively by Fahad, launched Jan 28, 2012 with headliners Sven Weismann, and Maya Jane Coles, and has since grown to bring artists such as tINI, Andrey Pushkarev, Matthew Dekay, Bill Patrick, Willie Graff, and Norm Talley. Taimur’s personal vision, THE SELECTORS, held their first event on Jun 3, 2016 and welcomed names such as Ryan Crosson, Craig Richards, Nicolas Lutz, and The Agha Brothers. The promise of both of these brands has inspired the two to keep moving forward in exploring their individual potential. The move is being embraced as an expansion of an already successful partnership, rather than a departure from their original vision. “Fahad and I have been working side-by-side on BLKMARKET for over eleven years. From warm-up sets to closings, we’ve been fortunate enough to invite and play alongside so many inspiring people as part of the BLKMARKET MEMBERSHIP,” Taimur Agha said. “We’ve grown and explored sound together as a harmonious team, but we have also forged our own creative relationships over the years. Now, we’d like to like to focus on cultivating those relationships.” ADVENTURES IN THE DEEP, as its name suggests, will highlight Fahad’s vision of pushing the boundaries of sound and elevating expectations while continuing to bring the best of the best and the most well recognized names in deep house and techno from around the world for local party goers, all with the same level of quality that loyal BLKMARKET fans have come to expect over the years. THE SELECTORS, headed up by Taimur, will focus on bringing a more eclectic mix of DJs and producers that he has met over the years and wants to explore future collaborative potential with via extended sets. These artists are whose history and abilities have set them apart. He’s also dedicated to providing a local platform to new, up-and-coming artists with the same level of excitement that he’s shown to hosting better known acts at BLKMARKET. “What we’ve accomplished together with BLKMARKET over the past eleven years has been incredibly rewarding, and each of us are excited to apply that same drive and dynamism to see what we can also accomplish with our own personal brands – without diminishing anything we’ve already built. We’ve been fortunate to have been welcomed into one of the world’s most important and competitive nightlife scenes, have made incredible friends and shared so many great sonic experiences together along the way. We plan to keep being able to do that for years to come. It is our hope that these new projects will give us even more opportunities to contribute to the vibrancy of NY nightlife, allowing us the freedom to celebrate our individual tastes and creativity, without abandoning the original integrity of what we’ve built together. NYC continues to inspire us, and now we’re using that inspiration to create something new,” Taimur & Fahad offered in a joint statement. For loyal and longstanding BLKMARKET fans, the collaborative and unified spirit between the two will continue with a new project set to be released on vinyl under the name “Blkmarket Soundsystem.” First Ascent will drop in September, distributed by the European based Off The Grid Distribution, and will be available in the US at Halcyon The Shop in NYC.
