Legowelt (Live) & Lipelis

  • RA PICK
  • A Dutchman and a Russian walk into a bar. In this instance, it's going to sound awesome.
  • Crown Ruler, Melbourne Deepcast and Bizarro combine to present the return of Dutch synth explorer Legowelt, one of The Hague’s most prolific electronic music figures, alongside the Australian debut of L.I.E.S.’ Lipelis, one of Moscow’s finest DJs and musical freaks. Legowelt LIVE (NL) Performing as Legowelt, Danny Wolfers has earned himself a cult-like following in underground circles and is one of the pioneers of The Hague sound, with his distinct analog output best described by him as "a hybrid form of slam jack combined with deep Chicago house, romantic ghetto technofunk and EuroHorror Soundtrack". Pushing his mind boggling assembly of synthesizers to the limit under a dizzying array of aliases since the early 90s, Wolfers wide ranging output is constantly of the highest order, delivering incredible otherworldly albums at lightning pace for heavyweights like Clone and Crème Organization, plus a steady stream of EPs for labels like L.I.E.S., PPU and Bunker Records. With his unparalleled DIY approach, it’s no surprise that his own Nightwind and Strange Life Records have released his greatest body of work, with albums from aliases like Smackos, Franz Falckenhaus, Saab Knutson, Calimex Mental Implant Corp., Rising Sun Systems and UFocus just to name a few. With Legowelt live sets the stuff of legend throughout The Netherlands and regularly performed alongside the Rush Hour camp and at festivals like Dekmantel and Dimensions, prepare to have your mind suitably altered. Lipelis (RU) Breaking through with some notorious L.I.E.S. edits back in 2015, Leonid (Lenya) Lipelis is one of Russia’s finest operators. Responsible for countless boundary twisting disco edits, remixes and original workouts under his own name and his Beard In Dust alter ego, Lipelis is also found delivering melodic and acid tinged late night fodder as TMO - the alias most notably behind his monster Insomniac EP on Public Possession. Generally opting to avoid the limelight, those that know can attest that his unconventional DJ sets are equally inspired, whether he’s laying down crazy Soviet records to large festival crowds or his own remix of Lata Ramasar in a tiny Moscow bar he’s got the dancefloor on lock. Local support from Myles Mac (Melbourne Deepcast), Roza Terenzi (Good Company), Sam Weston (Soothsayer) plus Spin Club combining with a top level takeover. 24 Moons, Friday 9th June, 10pm till 7am.
