  • Chicago producer/composer Kate Simko is returning to New York with her genre-bending project London Electronic Orchestra, as part of the group's highly anticipated first US tour. The intimate and vibey trio set is comprised of LEO core members Valeria Kurbatova on harp, Kamila Bydlowska on violin, and New York-based Madeleine Bouissou on cello, with Kate on keyboards and electronics. Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra’s distinct sound places the beauty, texture and intricacies of classical instruments against her organic, electronic productions, bringing a new perspective to both genres. Meshing orchestral soundscapes and electronic music, the group released its acclaimed debut album on The Vinyl Factory in 2016. Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra is a genre-bending ensemble that meshes Simko’s background as a producer, composer, pianist and DJ. The LEO live set brings classical music’s ornate instruments to the dancefloor through an inimitable blend of sonorous strings and loose-grooved beats. A classically trained pianist raised in the dance music mecca of Chicago, Simko has edged to the forefront of house and techno’s new generation of talent with albums and EPs for esteemed international labels such as Ghostly International, Get Physical, Leftroom, and Last Night On Earth, while applying her classical leanings to film scoring and classical collaborations with Philip Glass and on Decca Classics. In 2014, Kate completed a Master’s in Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music, where she formed London Electronic Orchestra. Ricardo Romaneiro Brazilian-born composer and electronic artist Ricardo Romaneiro has been active in the New York scene for the past decade. The New York Times described his work (Strata) as “a blissful and compelling mix of Minimalist-derived rhythmic ecstasy and nightclub beats.” Synthesizing classical and electronic music, his music has been commissioned and performed by ensembles and institutions such as the the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolis Ensemble, New Juilliard Ensemble, the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, and the Sacramento Ballet; and it has been featured on NPR’s live broadcast from Prospect Park Bandshell as part of Celebrate Brooklyn! summer concerts. Esquire featured him in their annual “Best & Brightest” issue. A recipient of the ASCAP Rudy Perz Songwriting Scholarship, Romaneiro earned a Master’s degree in composition from The Juilliard School. Ricardo Romaneiro will be performing a new 20min composition for 12-string acoustic guitar & electronics featuring vocalist Hannah Sumner
