- Summer is almost here and we're celebrating with a London to Durban special at the Camden Assembly 🇬🇧 🇿🇦 Over the past few years an incredible new club sound has been developing in the townships of Durban. This sound is called gqom - a word meaning 'hit' or 'drum' in Zulu. The bass-heavy variant of South African house music is finally starting to make waves internationally and we've got the leader of the scene coming to London for a special show. DJ Lag aka the Gqom King is just 21 years old but is already considered one of the sound's key players. Having released his self-titled EP with Goon Club Allstars late last year, the South African is one of the most exciting young producers in the world right now. Alongside him on the night is the legendary Hyperdub Records head honcho, Kode9. The world renowned DJ and prodcuer is one of the true tastemakers of UK underground music, for this reason we couldn't think of any one better to welcome this new sound to London. Expect the energy levels to be high at this one, we cannot wait!
