In 2001 started the Pitched Up record label as an outlet for american hardcore music. The label saw 5 vinyl releases and 10 digital releases. In 2007 AC Slater moved away from hardcore and raves to focus on fidget house, getting commissioned to do remixes for artists such as Freestylers, Moby, Shwayze, Human Resource, and Drop the Lime. AC Slaters status as both a DJ and producer has continued to rise rapidly ever since. He is now embarking on a large scale European tour and once again Always Fridays are proud to showcase an exciting talent before anyone else in London! GIGI BAROCCO (Cheaper Thrills, Italy) http://www.myspace.com/gigibarocco Italy, the boot of Europe, it provides us with tomatoes, pasta and olives. Besides that though, its recently been providing us with some might fine music! Be it the Bloody Beetroots, Riva Starr, Mowgli or Solo we've always been impressed. Gigi Barocco is the latest name to come from Milan, a recent addition to the Cheaper Thrills label roster we're looking forward to his first visit with us! DJEDJOTRONIC (Boysnoize Recs, Paris) http://www.myspace.com/djedjotronic 23 years old Djedjotronic (aka Jeremy) discovered electronic music through Warp and UR, a decade ago. He started his career through meeting now infamous friend Popof and released a couple of collaborations and toured a strong live PA together under the name Wee-Kids. His excellent debut EP ‘Turn Off’ was released in 2007 on Level75, and got huge support from Busy P, Justice, Oliver Huntemann and Mr Oizo. He has also completed remixes and productions for Busy P and UNKLE. NOT SHY (TINAR/Calling all Tribes) http://www.myspace.com/djnotshy Growing up on a diet of Hard-House back in Birmingham, Si Edkins AKA Not Shy soon learned his way around a set of decks and had a residency at a pre-bar for Sundissential. When he moved to London in September of 2006 he found is way into to the up and coming Electro scene based in and around the east end of LDN. Sick of hearing DJs drop beats left-right-and-centre he decided to pick up his headphones again and get involved. Since bursting onto the scene in 2008, Not Shy has proven to be one of East London's freshest talents and a force to be reckoned with. He's recently joined the ranks of Calling All Tribes as their newest resident and is also part of the This Is Not A Rave crew who've taken their east end bar night onto some of London's best known clubbing venues. JOHN & ON (Always Fridays) http://www.myspace.com/john_and_on_and_on AF resident John & On spins a mix of bass heavy techno and late night wonky house ************ TERRACE ************ Connaisseur Label Night http://www.connaisseur-recordings.com AFRILOUNGE (Connaisseur/8Bit/Pokerflat) http://www.myspace.com/afrilounge In 2002 Eduard Hartter, Richard Rotfuß aka Richard Liapin and Markus Liefke aka Liefko founded Afrilounge. With this, the three friendly djs and producers established a solid basis in order to bundle their creative energy and to share their predelection for electronic music. After two years of common producing in the studio, they contributed their first track, "The Dude”, to the Full Body Workout compilation of Berlin Label "GetPhysicalMusic”. In 2005 a cooperation with Patrick Chardronnet led to their first own EP "Phonix” and the compilation track "Just for a little peek”, both appearing on Steve Bug's PokerFlat Recordings. Furthermore they remixed MANDYs successful clubhit "Body Language” for "Get Physical Music“ and where also represented on "Full Body Workout 2“ with another track. 2006 was a mindblowing year for Afrilounge since the release of the "Pin & Fko EP“ on Alexander Flitsch.. newly founded label Connaisseur Recordings gained massive attention in the club scene. "Afrilounge's Visionary Remix” for Nick Curly's “Another Tearjerker” on 8Bit Records hit the closing ceremony of this years Love Parade in Berlin like a bomb.2007 is a very buisy year for Afrilounge. Till now, they dropped EP’S and remixes for 8bit records, Connaisseur Recordings, Kassette and Playmate. From Minimal to Techno, but always funky and groovy. Afrilounge is not afraid to get in touch with various styles of music. Besides long nights in the studio they have been touring the international club scene, leaving behind musical traces in such notable clubs like Tresor and Watergate (Berlin), Ultraschall (Munich), M1 (Stuttgart), Loft (Ludwigshaven) and Supermarket (Zurich), only to name a few. ALEX FLITSCH http://www.myspace.com/alex_connaisseur_rec For Alex Flitsch, music is an obsession. Since the early nineties, the label owner of Connaisseur Recordings has been firmly rooted in the electronic music scene. Living in Frankfurt by choice, the studied advertiser has been working as a DJ since 1994 and is an enthusiastic collector. In the course of his DJ career, he has played in clubs in almost all of Germany, many in Europe as well as in cities and countries like Miami, Hong Kong, Moscow and Mexico. The connaisseur, originating from the Afrilounge DJ-Collective in Pforzheim, close to the Black Forest in the south of Germany, has long had the desire to start an own label. The final trigger was the circumstance that three acts from his close circle of friends, Patrick Chardronnet, Markus Müller and Afrilounge, were shining with first class releases on well-known labels like Poker Flat, Get Physical and Traum Schallplatten. Connaisseur Recordings’ very first release "Eve by Day" by Patrick Chardronnet already made it one of Germany’s most popular new labels with a cosmopolitan character. It is cited in one breath with labels such as Border Community, Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical. The renowned german GROOVE magazine called it "the housey counterpart to Border Community” and the DE:BUG "The new R&S". Stylistically seen, Connaisseur aims to serve the market with versatility, without neglecting the sound aesthetical continuity of the release policy. The emphasis however, lies on House, soulful Techno and Minimal, although other influences and fusions are deliberately sought. Grand emotions, packed in a minimalistic sound structure, with the strategy of not only picking up current trends, but actually generating own. Alex’ DJ sets are always a wild bunch of new and old, famous and not so famous future classics, club anthems and collector’s secrets; Versatilely mixed and passionately presented - Connaisseur-like. PLASMIK (Live) http://www.myspace.com/plasmikberlin Plasmik are the brothers Roman and Marcel, originating from Freiburg, located close to the swiss border. In the middle of the 90ies they got infected by the dry, deep and organic Techno, which was imported from the USA at that time. So they started to buy records and to produce with simple sequencers and drumcomputers. Later both went different ways. Roman studied classical guitar, whereas Marcel moved to Berlin to visit the University of the Arts. In 2006, the brothers hooked up with each other again in Berlin and continued where they stopped ten years before. Since then they are on the quest for that timeless sound, which fascinated both in their musical past so lastingly. PELE DJ http://www.myspace.com/djpele Receiving support from the likes of Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha & Digweed and more Pele has made quite an impact with his releases on Connaisseur. We look forward to welcoming Pele to Always Fridays.
