To close out XOYO’s 5th Birthday, we enlist a mammoth lineup of techno’s most revered talents to take you on a 10 hour Sunday trek.
For the first time in several years, arguably the genres finest UK artist will play a rare and coveted DJ set in the XOYO basement. Surgeon, one of the most in-demand artists in the scene will lay down his clinical yet groove ridden display of techno which sounds quintessentially his own – it’s an honor.
A true techno underground hero, Function has been DJing and producing seminal music for over 15 years. Founding member of the highly influential Sandwell District collective and boasting a residency at Berghain, Function is a one of Techno’s key players. Expect to hear whooshing momentum, groovy basslines, incandescent synths and cinematic leads weaved together effortlessly and with gloss.
Hailing from Munich, Dario and Marco Zenker joined musical forces in 2012 to form the formidable breakdance brother-duo Zenker Brothers. Pulling influences from Detroit, Techno, House, Dub and Breakbeats, the two brothers have defined their own trademark sound via their dense productions and co-owned record label, Ilian Tape. Despite lacking any obvious hooks in their music, the Zenker’s use their Germanic sequencing and precision pacing to create deep and tough techno at its finest.
Skeletal yet punchy, driving, straight-to-the-point techno is Matrixxman’s game. A self proclaimed Techno Futurist, Matrixxman's technical ability and musical knowledge put his sets over the edge, bringing good vibes for all. Sporting releases on Dekmantel and Delft, and having his music played by the likes of Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin and DVS1, Matrixxman has rocketed out of the Bay Area to become a prominent figure on the global stage.
