Australia Berlin Electronic Connections’ (ABEC) inaugural event and program—The Zeitgeist—showcases an unprecedented contemporary presentation of Australian electronic music together in Berlin. Never before have there been so many Australians involved in the sphere of electronic music either, producing and performing across the globe. The Zeitgeist program engages with Australian electronic music and promotes its cultural significance.
The program will present a selection of performances by 11 professional Australian electronic musicians, producers, sound artists, and DJs working within the realm of electronic music that have a connection to Germany’s capital. The mix of participating artists vary in age and years of experience within the industry. Some having laid historical foundations for important connections between Australia and Germany through cross-cultural exchange and touring in the past, to others running their own records labels and events in the present.
Highlighting the current innovation in Australian music, the main event on Sunday the 23rd of July includes a full program of back-to-back performances with a custom Funktion-One sound system installed at the venue.
