  • A CERTAIN RATIO: A Certain Ratio was one of the first groups to sign to the legendary Factory Records in Manchester. Whilst many people credit New Order and The Happy Mondays as the groups who brought Dance music into the sound of Manchester (later Madchester!), it is in fact ACR who were there in the beginning. The band's exploration of rhythm fusing funk, disco, punk and Latin has had a resurgence in the last few years and their influence can be heard in bands such as The Rapture and LCD Soundsystem. In 2002 Soul Jazz Records started a program of reissues of ACR's albums and difficult to find tracks. Further re-issues and a live recording from 1980 have also been made available on the LTM label. The enduring appeal of ACR's back catalogue has been brought to a new audience. Soul Jazz Records re-released ACR's first 3 albums, “The Graveyard and the Ballroom”, “To Each” and “Sextet” during 2004 and the band's fourth release, “I'd Like To See You Again” released by LTM Records in June 2005. 2005 also saw the re-release of “ACR Live In America” on Melodic Records. http://www.acrmcr.com El Diablo's Social Club 6th Birthday IN THE MUSIC HALL: Toby Tobias {Rekids} Toby recently signed up to Warm DJ agency - 2007 promises more overseas dates, as well as the first Rekids release of the year ...with a remix from the mighty Quiet Village, more work with Bearfunk and Germany's Members of the Trick /Sonar kollectiv, a tidy package from Tiny Sticks with a remix from Mark E and more releases on Urban myth. Spun grew up in the San Jose area and began his DJ career playing underground parties in the late '80s and early '90s. His DJ sets at pioneering S.F. parties The Gathering and Come-Unity have helped establish him as one of the scene's key players, and this reputation has grown with time. http://www.myspace.com/therealdjspun IN THE BAR: Marc Rowlands returns with his pith helmet after unleashing some belters at our New Years Eve shin dig.
