- Undoubtedly one of the jewels in Bristol’s many-studded musical crown, Simple Things Festival rolls around once again with a staggering line-up that brings together all the best facets of contemporary alternative music, proving that you don’t have to be a one-dimensional music lover. Before the sprawling event fully kicks off on the Saturday afternoon, the opening concert features the immense talent of Metronomy, a band that capture the ethos of Simple Things perfectly. Five albums deep, they straddle accessibility and artful invention in a graceful manner that makes for some of the most striking and endearing electronic songwriting to emerge from the UK in a long time. With their last album Summer 08released to rapturous response last year, you can expect the band to run through a career-spanning set of shimmering future pop to set the festival off in style.
