The London promoters have a new home, and we'll help celebrate with Carl Craig, Matthew Herbert and Zomby.
London promoters The Hydra have secured a permanent residency at Wapping venue Studio Spaces, and Resident Advisor is hosting the opening party this August Bank holiday weekend.
The Hydra has moved through a range of London venues, but in August they'll settle down at Studio Spaces. They've been using it on-and-off for a while, but now it's set to launch as a two-room space.
Topping the bill at the RA party on Friday, August 22nd, is Detroit icon Carl Craig. He'll be joined in the Unit 1 Warehouse room by the enigmatic Zomby, Dutch favourite A Made Up Sound, recent Breaking Through subjectVester Koza and bass-heavy trio Livity Sound, who are locked in for a live show.
The other room, The Black Studio, has a more exotic flavour, with celebrated UK names Matthew Herbert and Gilles Peterson both playing DJ sets. We've also invited South African star Black Coffee, while recent RA podcasterMo Kolours will add some off-centre charm. Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie, another Breaking Through alumnus, round out our bill. The party begins at 10 PM and runs through until 7 AM.
The rest of the weekend will see a Ghostly International showcase go down on Saturday, August 23rd. The following night sees James Ruksin's Blueprint roll in to help celebrate 20 years of Robert Hood's label, M-Plant. The three parties will kick-start a 12-week series of The Hydra events at Studio Spaces.
Tickets to the RA party are available here.
