The sixth edition of the French beach festival runs from tomorrow through the middle of August.
This year's edition of Les Plages Electroniques will kick off on Wednesday night in Cannes with an event headlined by A-Trak and Jack Beats.
The seaside party will be the first of six events scheduled at The Palais Des Festivals over the next two months. Each night will showcase a different style of electronic music: "Electropical Hip Hop" on the 13th July sees Foreign Beggars alongside the mercurial tribal duo Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team. The following week sees dubstep and drum & bass on the 20th July with old jungle favourites DJ Hype, Daddy Earl and Californian producer (and light show specialist) Bassnectar.
There's a turn toward house and techno next month with a night of minimal on 8th August, headlined by Kompakt’s Gui Boratto. On the 17th, Francois K, Danny Krivit and Joe Clausell will present their famous New York party, Body and Soul. The final evening on the 18th brings techno to the fore, courtesy of local favourite Laurent Garnier with LBS (Garnier himself, plus Benjamin Ripper and Scan’x). Up to 10,000 partygoers are expected on the al fresco dance-floor each evening.
