- Komba will come out on Enchufada next month.
Portugese collective Buraka Som Sistema are ready to release their second album, Komba.
The album takes its name from an Angolan ritual in which the recently dead are honored with a seven-day party. It was composed and recorded over the past 11 months, beginning with a month-long retreat to the woods of Monchique in the south of Portugal for inspiration. According to a press release, it shows the group developing into a live band rather than a production outfit, and expanding beyond the kuduro sound that defined their debut album, Black Diamond. The record features a raft of guest appearances, including two from Blaya, one of Burka Som Sistema's most frequent live contributors. Cover art comes from Brazilian artist Stephan Doitschinoff, AKA Calma.
