The label has issued Warren Harris's first record in five years, along with two new compilations featuring Tony Allen and Kyle Hall.
Sound Signature released Hanna's Bless LP on May 27th.
Hanna, AKA Cleveland, Ohio-raised producer Warren Harris, had a prolific run from the late '90s up through 2009, dropping well-regarded soulful house albums like 2002's Contemplating Jazz for Track Mode and Exquisite Style, released in 2004 on Deep Departures. He was also a member of Theo Parrish's The Rotating Assembly and appeared on Sound Signature for his 2005 12-inch Time Hotel. That one just got a repress, and Parrish's label unveiled a new full-length from Harris, Bless, the night of his live performance at a Detroit gallery on the eve of the annual Movement festival. On July 14th, Hanna will head to Brooklyn, where he'll DJ and play live alongside Huerco S and Future Times artist Will DiMaggio at Bossa Nova Civic Club.
Sound Signature has also pressed up two CD compilations called These Songs That Should've Been Out On Wax By Now Part One and Part Two, featuring the likes of Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, Andrew Ashong, Kai Alce, Marcellus Pittman, Wajeed, Amp Fiddler, Kyle Hall and Parrish himself. The cover art on each volume says "due to the backup at the pressing plants, we bring (these songs) to you in a somewhat inferior format." There's no tracklist on those, but Sound Signature is running a "How 'Detroit' Are You?" contest over on its website, prompting Motor City experts to identify and match the featured artists to the songs on which they appear for discounts, membership and even a new car.
