- They'll be out on the label in July.
Vancouver's Isla has announced its next two releases.
The first comes from Slim Media Player, AKA Sam Scott, a Vancouverite who debuted last year with two tracks on a Pacific Rhythm EP. Quilchena Tracks features nine new tunes made in tribute to the long-standing train tracks in Vancouver's Arbutus Corridor that were torn up and paved over last year. The other comes from two Peruvian artists, Raúl Gómez and Orlando Ramírez, who record together as Jardín. Their El Orador is a single-sided cassette that features a live recording of experimental, industrial-tinged electronics from 2002.
The label will also host a release party for Slim Media Player's tape at The Backstage Lounge on Granville Island in Vancouver this Friday, June 23rd.
Isla is a recent addition to the Vancouver house scene, launching last year and releasing tapes from the likes of D. Tiffany, You're Me, Usd. and NAP, aka label boss Daniel Rincon.
Listen to tracks from both tapes.
