- It'll be the first solo vinyl release for the New York-based artist.
The nascent label arm of Mysteries Of The Deep, the New York ambient and experimental event series and podcast, is putting out an album from Lori Scacco next month called Desire Loop.
Scacco is a locally based multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer whose first album, Circles, came out on CD back in 2004 through Eastern Developments, a now-defunct label co-founded by Prefuse 73. She has also been part of bands and collaborations including Storms and Seely. Scacco's more recent work of making music for film, performance and other projects influenced the approach to Desire Loop, her first solo vinyl release.
Mysteries Of The Deep—who hosted a set from Scacco at their label's launch party in December—says to expect "incandescent scree, bubbly synthesizer and easygoing dulcet tones" on a record written "as counterpoint to today's destructive political landscape."
The artist herself says, "I had to create an empathic means of access for myself, and in turn, for the listener, using the core of all that I value as my way into the music."
She joins a label that's put out LPs from Certain Creatures (who she remixed in 2016) and William Selman, and digital remix packs featuring Patrick Russell, Gunnar Haslam and Strategy, since its start in January.
