- The vocal-heavy LP, out in March, was inspired by artists like Lady Gaga, Missy Elliott and Björk.
NON Worldwide founder Angel-Ho will release her next album through Hyperdub.
Death Becomes Her is described by Angel-Ho herself as her "debut proper," according to the press release, which also calls the LP "a line in the sand, showcasing her as a performer, producer and lyricist as well as a collaborator." The album, which features the South African artist rapping and singing for the first time, was reportedly inspired by artists like Lady Gaga, Missy Elliott, Björk and Kanye West. Lyrical themes range from "love, sex, glamour [to] struggle... universal fantasies treated with an ambiguity that restructures the narrative within a trans identity."
It's a collaboration-heavy record as well, with guest spots from Gaika, Asmara (one half of Nguzunguzu), Astral Plane affiliate Nunu, fellow South African artist Baby Caramel as well as Cape Town MCs K-$ and Queezy.
Listen to "Like A Girl."
