Part One, "conceived during a 48-hour studio session," lands in June.
Sophia Saze will release her two-part debut album, Self, via Francis Harris' label Kingdoms this summer.
Self is a memoir of "the many different places [Saze has] lived during her journey" as the daughter of political refugees, according to the press release. Though her recent productions were focused on the dance floor, Self is more "downtempo" and meant to be interpreted as a concept album—"taking a stance against perfection" by incorporating analog techniques with "processed field recordings… [and] samples from her childhood, such as Soviet cartoons and intimate VHS recordings of her family." Part One arrives on cassette in June, while the second follows in July.
The Tbilisi-born, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer has previously released on labels such as Ghostly International and Get Physical, as well as her own imprint, Dusk & Haze.
