The Weeknd and Oneohtrix Point Never debuted a new song called "Scared To Live" on Saturday Night Live.
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye and Dan Lopatin began working together on the soundtrack for the Safdie Brothers' film Uncut Gems. In an interview with Variety, codirector Josh Safdie said, "Originally we were going to maybe do an original song. [The Weeknd] and Dan [Loptatin], our composer, went into the studio and made like four or five amazing tracks. One of them we were going to use in the movie."
As the movie was set in 2012, The Weeknd ended up performing his 2011 track "The Morning" for Uncut Gems. This new cut, "Scared To Live," is presumably from those sessions. On the SNL performance, Lopatin plays a Roland Juno-60, the synthesizer he used for early career recordings like Betrayed In The Octagon and Russian Mind.
Watch The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin perform "Scared To Live" on last night's SNL, hosted by Daniel Craig.
