  • An exhibit exploring Grace Jones's image and gender identity is coming to the UK. Curated by Cédric Fauq and Olivia Aherne, Grace Before Jones: Camera, Disco, Studio will open at Nottingham Contemporary this September. The exhibit is described to be at the intersection of "fan-fiction, study and biography," discussing black image-making, gender binarism and the incorporation of performance into Jones's life. Offering historical context to Grace Jones's image-making, the show also delves into stage design, music and fashion. Aside from Jones, artwork from a wide range of the period's prominent figures, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Mapplethorpe and political group ACT UP, will be featured in the exhibit. Grace Before Jones will run from September 26th to January 3rd at Nottingham Contemporary.
