Coil's 1999 album Musick To Play In The Dark is being reissued by Dais Records in November.
Musick To Play In The Dark is one of UK duo Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and John Balance's most highly-regarded albums, generally seen as beginning a new stage in their career after their synth pop and EBM '80s output and early '90s work inspired by acid house and Balearic music.
Coil started on the album after relocating to Weston-Super-Mare, engaging in druggy sessions joined by collaborators Thighpaulsandra and Drew McDowall. The result was an approach focused on extended tracks, spoken-word and more advanced synthesizer sounds than previous record.
This new reissue is the first time that Musick To Play In The Dark Vol. 1 has been on vinyl since 1999, and one of the few official represses in any format. The double-vinyl comes with an art etching on the D-side.
