  • When Peter Rehberg, the crucial experimental artist and label owner, died in July, the fate of the Mego family of labels was unknown. An announcement today reveals at least three will continue their activities. Today, the long-running Parisian electro-acoustic research institute INA-GRM announced that SUNN O))) member Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ imprint, as well as the Recollection GRM and Portraits GRM sub-labels, will continue their activities.
"While it was not conceivable to continue Editions Mego without Peter Rehberg, the labels created in collaboration with Stephen O'Malley (IOM) and the GRM (REGRM / SPGRM) are intended to continue and perpetuate the mission undertaken with Peter," read the statement. The French label Shelter Press, run by Bartolomé Sanson & Félicia Atkinson, will now carry the releases from these three labels. Portraits GRM has commissioned new works from the likes of Jim O'Rourke and Lucy Railton, while Recollection GRM handles reissues and archival recordings from the Groupe De Recherches Musicales, including records from Bernard Parmegiani, Luc Ferrari and Iannis Xenakis. O'Malley's label, Ideologic Organ, spans from avant metal to modern classical composition.
