- The 41-track release is a collaboration between Greenpeace and DJs For Climate Action.
Greenpeace and DJs For Climate Action have put together a compilation ahead of the COP26 conference in Glasgow.
Spanning 41 tracks, Climate Soundtrack was curated by artists like Nicola Cruz, Blond:ish and Coldcut's Matt Black. The music was made using The Climate Sample Pack, a collection of field recordings from years of Greenpeace expeditions (whale song, birdsong, iceberg clap, monsoons and more) that was released in 2020. DJs For Climate Action put out an open call to producers to download the sample pack and create original music.
Featuring cuts by Acid Pauli, Fakear and Dazzle Drums, the final tracklist has been whittled down from 350 submissions. The vinyl version will be produced by Green Vinyl Records, which uses a new, eco-conscious production process. The proceeds from the release will be split between DJs For Climate Action's future projects and local organisations in the areas where field recordings were taken.
In 2019, DJs For Climate Action released the Earth Night compilation. The 26th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (AKA COP26) will take place in Glasgow from October 31st through November 12th.
