  • MC, vocalist, actor and composer Cleveland Watkiss MBE has a new album on the way, The Great Jamaican Songbook. Out on March 25th via Cdubya Music, the LP reimagines classics and rare gems from some of Jamaica's most celebrated musicians, such as Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Burnin Spear, Coxsone Dodd, TuffGong, King Tubby, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Delroy Wilson and Prince Lincoln. Watkiss and a live band will tour the album, starting the day after its release at London venue Boisdale in Canary Wharf. The tour includes stops in Cardiff, Bristol, Poole, Taunton, Cambridgeshire and beyond. Here's the full schedule. As well as being a jazz musician, Watkiss was the resident host for Metalheadz's storied drum & bass night at Blue Note, where he brought his signature, pared-down approach to MCing. Listen to "Humanity."
