  • Spitfire Audio's new sound library, Polaris, features a string orchestra imitating vintage synthesisers. Composed by Grammy-nominated producer BT, the tool features 421 presets, 129 articulations and a granular engine. It was made from live recordings of a 24-piece string orchestra that was configured to compliment synth sounds. These recordings were then resampled using classic and rare synthesisers such as the EMU E-II, Fairlight and Ensoniq Mirage as well as cassette and VHS tape machines. Polaris consists of three parts—samples of the string orchestra, classic synths (the Yamaha CS80, Prophet T8 and Jupiter 8, among others) and vintage resampling, i.e. the manipulated sounds via cassette and VHS tape machines. Users are able to layer and blend these sounds. This marks BT's second collaboration with Spitfire Audio following the synth plugin Phobos from 2017. Learn more about Polaris in the official clip below.
Polaris is available for a promotional price of $269 until April 28th. For more details, check Spitfire's website.
