  • Manchester label Natural Sciences has started a print magazine called Embryo. The inaugural 50-page issue features underground artists and labels such as Hieroglyphic Being, Beau Wanzer, fumu, avant-garde producer Margenrot and Austin label Breathing Problem Productions. This edition comes with an exclusive mix by Athens-based artist Sawf, a vinyl EP by SMPL SMPL and artwork by Bartosz Zaskorski. "The aim of Embryo was to go back to the DIY print culture of hardcore punk and rave," Natural Sciences boss Alex Hall told RA. The zine sought to highlight talents "from the contemporary underground that exist and thrive outside of the matrix of social media hype and conventional media," he continued. At this time, it's unclear whether Embryo will be a regular publication. "Pulling it all together was a heavy duty process and about a year's work (respect to anyone who does this on the regular) so once the dust settles on the first issue, there might be a discussion about a follow-up," Hall said. Visit Natural Sciences' Bandcamp for more information. Check out more images of the zine.
